The Cheshire Cat

TGFC Cattery

Lewis Carrol, venerated author of Alice In Wonderland, would have been at total literary loss without the legendary “smile of the Cheshire cat” to coruscate the young girl’s emprise.

Dame Agatha Christie, murder mystery author nonpareil, would have been vexed without her “tabby” or “lap” cat providing just the right measure of requisite feline atmosphere and intrigue to her tales of misadventure.

Even the late, loquacious and luminous Sammy Davis, Jr. would have been rendered mute had he not the metaphoric “cool” and “fat” cats to allude.

And had not Medieval Europe, plunged deep into the frenzied miasma of superstition, nearly eradicated the “pagan” black cat from the face of the Earth during the infamous inquisition, the 14th century continent might have been spared the deaths of 2/3 of its population by the invasion of an imported scourge of black rats carrying the bubonic plague.

But who is this hero worthy of such adulation?  By what name does this revered creature respond?

It is the

British Shorthair.
